Turnitin: Change from a Student to an Instructor role

When logged into Turnitin, please check to ensure that your role is set to “Instructor” and not “Student”. You can check your role by checking the Menu at top-right of the page. This guide provides essential steps for users in changing their Turnitin role from a student to an instructor. Once completed, users will be able to authorise their Turnitin access in order to view student submissions from within MedLearn.

If your role in Turnitin is 'Student', you will need to change it. Click the dropdown menu at the top of the page next to 'Student'

Click "Instructor" to select the instructor role. This will update your role.

You should now see a list of TurnItIn submission classes

If you are unable to see or click on "Instructor" from the dropdown menu, follow the steps below.

Click "User info" at the top of the page.

Click "Instructor" under "Default user type".

Click "Submit".

Return to the class list by clicking on "All Classes" tab.

Select "Instructor" role from the dropdown menu at the top of the page.

Click on any of the listed classes to complete your Turnitin authentication.

Allow the submission class page that you have selected to fully load before closing. This is to ensure that you successfully complete your Turnitin authentication.
