Getting Started with engagED

Go to [engaged.acep.org](https://engaged.acep.org) and click [[Log in with ACEP]]

Log in using your SSO (ACEP credentials). If you're signing in for the first time, you will be asked to complete your profile by uploading a picture.

After signing in, you'll be automatically directed to your Home page within engagED.

View My Profile

To upload/change your profile picture, click the avatar at the top right.

Click **[[View my profile]]**

Click the upload icon to select a file from your computer.

Profile Settings

Update your notification/email preferences in your **Profile Settings** by clicking on the avatar at the top right.

Click **[[Profile Settings]]**

**Daily Community Highlights Email**\ Toggle on or off, sent every day with activity across every group you are in.

**Weekly Community Highlights** **Email**\ Toggle on or off, sent every Thursday with activity across every group you are in.

**Group-Specific Emails**\ These emails can be sent out and personalized on a group-by-group basis.

**Events Notifications**\ Toggle on or off to be notified when you are invited to events in groups you are in.

**Community Recognition**\ Toggle on or off to be notified when you are assigned a badge from your community managers.

**Moderation**\ Toggle on or off to receive notifications if any of your posts or comments are flagged for potential violations of ACEP's engagED Terms of Use or Code of Conduct.

Finding and Joining Groups

**Search for a Section, Chapter, or Committee Group**\ In the **Search** box, type in the name of the desired Group. Click the Group name to view.

**Search Suggested Groups**\ Click the **[[View all]]** button next to Suggested Groups. A list of Suggested Groups will display in a pop up with the number of Posts, Members, and Parent Groups. \ \ *Note: This will include all of ACEP's Member Interest Groups.*

**Join Groups**\ Click the Join group button to join any of the Suggested Groups. Fill out the registration form if prompted. \ \ *Note: Suggested Groups will not include any groups of which you are already a member.*

How Do I Contact My Group Manager (Staff or Chapter Executive)?

In the [[Feed ]]section of the Group, select the [[Members]] tab.

Click the down caret next to the number of members.

Click the number of managers.

Click on the manager you'd like to contact.

Click **[[Message]]**

Engaging in Conversations

You can engage in conversations through posts and private or group chats.

Posts in engagED

**Reply to a Post in engagED**\ In a Group, open the Post you'd like to respond to.

Click [[What would you like to say?]] and type your comment!

If you are receiving instant email notifications, you have the option to respond directly from your inbox as well. - Private Response: simply **Reply** to the email - Public Responses: choose **Reply All** in the email to ensure your response is visible to all participants and continues the group discussion.

**Edit a Post**\ Locate the **three-dot menu** int he upper right corner of your post.

Click **[[Edit Post]]**

After making your changes, you have **two** options: - Click **[[Save]]** to update the post without notifying members. - To send an email update to members, click the **[[down arrow]]** next to **[[Save]]**, then select **[[Send Update]]**

Private and Group Chats Within Your Community

**Start a Private Chat**\ When you've found a member you'd like to start a chat with, simply open their profile and click **[[Message]]** button.

**Make it a Group Chat**\ Click the down arrow in the chat window.

Select **[[Add Members]]** to include additional participants.

**Change the Subject of a Private Group Chat**\ Click the down arrow in the chat window.

Click **[[Edit email subject line]]** to customize the name that appears for all group members.

Report Inappropriate or Off-Topic Content in a Group

Members can report posts, replies, or resources they believe violate community guidelines or are otherwise inappropriate. Reported content is sent to Community Managers for review and potential removal.

Click the **[[three-dot icon]]** in the upper right corner of the post.

Click **[[Report this Post]]**

Select a **reason** for reporting the post.

Once you hit **[[Submit]]**, the report will be reviewed by the Community Managers.

Subscribe to engagED Calendar

Following your group events is simple and efficient with **calendar subscriptions.** This feature allows you to sync your group's event calendar with most external calendar programs, including **Outlook.com**, **Mac Calendar**, **Google Calendar**, and **others.**

To subscribe to your group's calendar, navigate to the **[[Events]]** tab.

Click **[[Subscribe to Calendar]]** at the top of the page.

Click **[[Copy]]** to copy the iCalendar URL.

Open your external calendar application an **subscribe using the copied URL.**

**Important Calendar Notes:** - The calendar feed includes **only the events you are invited to.** It is linked to your personal group calendar and **should not be shared** with others. - The sync is **one-way only** - from the group calendar to your external calendar. External calendar feeds **cannot** be imported into your group calendar. - **Sync frequency varies** depending on the external calendar provider. Updates are not always immediate.
