Add Additional Information to the Permit form

These fields allow you to capture extra details that may be relevant for managing permits. Users can add custom fields to collect information that isn’t covered by the standard permit form.

**Example Scenario:** If your organization needs to track specific data points, such as Vehicle Make, you can add this as additional information field on the permit.

Navigate to <https://dashboard.offstreet.io/dashboard>

Click "Permits"

Click "Permits"

You will see a list of all available locations. Scroll through the list or use the search bar to find the location you need to edit.

Once you locate the desired location, click on it to open the permit list for that location.

From the Permit Types, click "Settings"

Click "Additional Information"

Click "Create"

Create a Custom Text Input

In the Label field, enter a name or description that will be displayed next to the input field on the form (e.g., “Vehicle Color” or “Employee ID”).

The default input type is "Text Input". \ \ **"Text Input"** allows users to enter free-form text into the field. \ \ When creating a custom field, selecting “Text Input” as the input type will generate a single-line input box where users can type in their responses. \ \ This type of input is best suited for short to moderate-length text entries.

Select the "Required" toggle to specify whether the field must be filled out before a user can create a Permit. \ \ When the toggle is **off**, the field is optional, and users can choose whether or not to provide input. When the toggle is **on**, the field is required, meaning users must enter information before they can successfully submit the form.

Click the "Description" field to provide additional context or instructions for end-users when they fill out the form. \ \ This optional field appears below the input field label and is used to clarify what kind of information the user should provide or offer guidance on how to fill out the field correctly. \ \ For example, you can use the description to explain formatting requirements, such as “Please provide a valid email address.”

Click the "Tenants" dropdown to specify which tenant the custom field should be applied to. \ \ By selecting a tenant from the drop-down, you can ensure that the field will only appear in forms for that specific tenant.

Click "Save"

Create a Custom Dropdown Selection

Click "Create"

In the Label field, enter a name or description that will be displayed next to the input field on the form (e.g., “Vehicle Color” or “Employee ID”).

Click the "Input Type" field to open a dropdown, and then select "Dropdown"\ \ **Dropdown** allows users to select one option from a predefined list of choices. \ \ This field type presents a compact list that expands when clicked, showing the available options for selection. \ \ It’s ideal for situations where you want to limit user input to a specific set of values, such as selecting a location, category, or status.

Click the "Field Option" to add an option and type the first option you want to include.

clicking in the input field again will automatically generate an empty field below for adding another option, if needed. \ \ Continue adding options by repeating this process until all desired choices are listed.

Click "Save"

How to Edit Additional Information Fields

From the Permit Types, click "Settings"

Click "Additional Information"

Navigate to the right-hand side of the table, and click the 3 dots to open a modal.

Select "Edit Additional Information"

Update only the fields that require changes.

Click "Save"
