Add Tooltips and Carousels to Dashboard Layers

Enhance your Spotzi dashboards with interactive tooltips and image carousels. Tooltips provide additional information when users click map features, while carousels make it easier to browse and navigate locations displayed on the map.

Spotzi

Tooltips can display images, titles, descriptions, and additional data fields from your layer. Once enabled, clicking a location or polygon on the map will display a tooltip containing information about that location.

Add a Tooltip to a Layer

Open the dashboard you want to add a tooltip to. Tooltips can be added to any layer containing point or polygon data. Open the layers panel.

Select the layer you would like to add a tooltip to.

Click "Tooltip" in the layer options.

Toggle "Enable" on.

Add Images to your Tooltip

If your dataset contains a column with image URLs, you can display images directly within the tooltip. **Please note:** Images must be stored as publicly accessible URLs linking directly to JPG or PNG files.

Enable the "Image" option to add images to your tooltip.

Select the appropriate image column from the "Image" dropdown menu.

When users click a location on the map, the associated image will now be displayed in the tooltip.

Enable Creative Testing

If your layer includes image data, you can also enable the "Test your creative" feature.

Customize Your Tooltip

Designate dataset columns to populate the tooltip titles and descriptions for each location on your layer.

The values stored in those columns will automatically appear when a user clicks a location.

Description fields can also contain HTML.

Using an HTML column in your description field enables you to include custom links, formatting, and styled content in your tooltip.

Beyond titles and descriptions, you can display additional attributes from your dataset as "fields". Enable "Fields" to start selecting more data from your data table to be displayed in your tooltip.

Click "Edit Fields".

Optionally enter a section title.

Click "Add field" to begin adding new columns to your tooltip.

Select the data column you would like to display.

Customize the field label if desired. Click "Add". Repeat these steps to include multiple fields.

All selected fields will appear within the tooltip when users click a map feature.

Manage Tooltip Fields

Use the trash icon to remove a field. Drag and drop fields to reorder them.

Add an Image Carousel

Image carousels provide an alternative way to browse locations on your map. A sliding panel appears beneath the map, allowing users to navigate locations without clicking directly on map markers.

To add a carousel to your dashboard, click the dashboard title to open the dashboard's settings.

Navigate to the "Carousel" section. Toggle "Show" on.

Select the layer you would like to display in the carousel, as well as the columns you would like to include in the carousel's title, description, and image fields.

The selected layer's location data will now be visible within your dashboard's new carousel. **Please Note:** You may need to refresh the dashboard before the carousel becomes visible.

The carousel displays available locations along with their associated images and data. Users may select a location in the carousel and click "More info".

The location's corresponding tooltip will open on the map.
