Add individual ontology terms, share ontology and download ontology v1.3

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to add individual ontology terms. Remember that this is not recommended for adding the bulk of your ontology terms in to DeltaBreed. Instead, use the ontology template to do that. This is for an individual term that may need to be added based on your program needs.

Add an individual term

To add a new term, head to the "ontology" view screen in DeltaBreed and click on "new".

Add your fields for the new ontology term. Pay close attention to the red asterisks as those are required fields. Do not use periods (.) or \[ \] in the term names or this will throw an error. \ When you are done filling in the fields, click save.

Share ontology

(Note that when a program is first started, the "configuration" tab does not appear. It only appears after ontology terms are added.) You can share ontologies with programs that have the same species. This can be done in "program administration" under the "configuration" tab. Click "share ontology" and then choose the name of the other program you wish to share with and save. (Hover over the screen to see multiple steps.)

The other program will need to go into their own program administration configuration and accept your offer to share your ontology. While you are sharing an ontology, you cannot then subscribe to another program's ontology. If you have traits associated with your ontology, then you cannot share with another program. You would have to share before you added traits in your experiments.

Download ontology

Click on "manage ontology" and then "download file". You then have a downloaded file of all of your ontology terms.
