Navigate to the course search in Banner

Click "Subject" and search for the course subject. You can type the designation (BIO, CHM, BMS, etc.) or type the subject name ("biology", "biomedical sciences", etc.).

Click the subject you want to add it into the search parameters

Click the "Course Number" field and input the course number. Click "Search" or hit the Enter key.

In the "Title" column, look through the sections and identify the different types. For many science classes, you will see under the course title "Lecture" and "Laboratory". There are also some classes that require "Discussion". For many classes, discussion sections are only required when enrolling in an SLA or Structured Learning Assistance course. *If you see some lectures that do not have discussions immediately following (See Section 10 below), then you will only need discussions if you pick an SLA lecture.*

To identify SLA sections, scroll over to the "Attribute" column. If you see sections that are listed as "Structured Learning Assistance" you will enroll in lecture as normal and also need to add a linked discussion section.

If you need a discussion section because you picked an SLA Lecture or it's required for the class (common with Chemistry courses), please read below. Discussion sections are linked to a specific lecture section and will always immediately follow the lecture they are linked to. The example below shows Lecture section 15 and then three discussion sections 16, 17, & 18. These discussions are all linked to the Lecture above it. You **MUST** match lecture and discussion sections to avoid a registration error.

The example below shows Lecture section 15 and then three discussion sections 16, 17, & 18. These discussions are all linked to the Lecture above it. You **cannot** mix and match lecture and discussion sections so if you chose Lecture 15, you would have to select discussion 16, 17 or 18 as well. For this class, you can also select a lecture that does not require a discussion and is not identified as an SLA section (See Section 10 or 20).

Once you have added the correct lecture (and discussion if applicable), you will scroll to the "Laboratory" sections located at the bottom of the search results. Labs will have a section number in the 900's and are required to add but not linked to a specific section of lecture or discussion. As long as the lab has seats remaining, you may pick any section to add. When you have a Lecture, Lab, and when necessary, Discussion added to your course summary you should be able to hit "Submit" to enroll you in all three sections at once.
