Adjusting Class Settings in Google Classroom

Each class you create has its own settings. Here you can update your class details, view the class code, determine who can post on the stream, set classwork notifications on the stream, and set-up grading.

Google Classroom

Navigate to [classroom.google.com](https://classroom.google.com) and click on one of your classes.

To access class settings, click on the **Class settings icon** located in the top- right

Update Class Details

You can change and update the class details that are entered when you created the class.

Alert! We recommend not changing the class details if you sync your classes to Synergy.

General

Under **General**, you can access your invite link and class code. These two items are what you can use to invite students to join your classroom and will only be needed if you do not sync with Synergy.

By clicking on display code, a popup window will appear with a larger view of your your class code.

Your class code will appear in this pop-up window.

Set Student Permission to Post and Comment

- **Posts** are ideas, questions, or information that students share. Student can add files such as images, links, or YouTube videos to their posts. - **Comments** are text-only responses to posts. *Students can't edit their posts or comments, but they can delete them. Educators can delete any post or comment, and see deleted posts and comments.*

Under General, click "**Students can post and comment**" and then choose a permission. Read below to learn about each option.

- **Students can post and comment**: This option is the default. Students can post to the Stream page and comment on any item. - **Students can only comment**: Student can comment on an existing post, but cannot create a post. - **Only teachers can post or comment**: Students cannot post or comment on the Stream page. This option mutes all students.

Select the permission you want and it will apply to this class only.

Set Classwork on the Stream

Under General, click "**Show condensed notification**" and then choose an option. Read below to learn about each option.

- **Show attachments and details**: Student see an expanded view of notifications. - **Show condensed notifications**: Students see notifications without attachments and details. - **Hide notifications**: No Classwork notifications show on the Stream page.

Select the option you want for your classwork on Stream and it will appear for this class.
