AgSense 365 | Adding a VRI-iS Field in Optimize & Apply

This guide provides a comprehensive walkthrough for adding a VRI-iS field in AgSense 365's Optimize & Apply module, ensuring users can efficiently set up and manage their irrigation systems. It covers essential steps, from field configuration to importing sprinkler packages and shapefiles.

Optimize & Apply Module Management

Log into your AgSense 365 account and navigate to Module Management.

Click "Optimize & Apply"

Click "Add Field"

Field Configuration

Choose the Farm you want to associate this field with.

Give the field a name.

Choose the VRI type for this field. In this instance we are setting up a field with Individual Sprinkler VRI (VRI-iS).

Choose the Panel Type. If you are using the latest ICON panel, choose ICON (full grid) to use the most precise VRI available. If your machine has a corner arm, choose ICON (Corner).

Select "Serial Number" as the ID Type, and search for the serial number of the ICON panel for this field. RTU ID is typically used for BaseStation3 customers.

Click "Next"

Enter the Latitude and Longitude of the center point.

Enter the field left and right angle and machine length to define the field boundary (a left angle of 0 and a right angle of 0 will display a complete 360° circle).

Enter the Machine Length and an Offset Angle (if applicable) and click Next.

Sprinkler Package Configuration - Import

If this machine's sprinkler package was designed in VChart, the easiest way to configure your sprinkler package is by uploading the VRI-iS report generated in V2O.

To use the file you downloaded from V2O (or to upload one of the template worksheets highlighted) click "Import".

Choose the appropriate unit of measure.

Click "Select File" and find it on your computer.

Click "Import"

You will now see each sprinkler and its distance from center.

Click "Next"

If you choose Manual configuration, enter the total number of sprinklers and click Save.

Type in the distance to each sprinkler in the table, and then click Save. Use the arrow buttons at the bottom of the page to see additional sprinklers.

Uploading Shapefiles

Next, you will upload your Shapefiles, which are typically provided by an Agronomist. Select "Yes" to start the upload process.

Click "Import"

A .shp, .dbf, and .shx file are required for the upload. The .prj file is optional.

Select each of the files from you computer and then click "Import".

Select the column names from your imported .dbf file that correspond with the Area Name and Watering Rate. You will need to know how the column names were defined when the shapefile was created to select the appropriate ones.

Once you've chosen the appropriate column names for each attribute, click Finish.

You will receive a confirmation message once your shapefiles have been successfully imported. Click "Okay".

Click Finish to complete the Field Setup.

You will now see the field you added in the list on the Optimize & Apply module management page.
