Agents: Using the Drawing Tools

This guide provides a comprehensive overview of how to effectively use drawing tools for mapping fields. It covers essential functions such as drawing, editing, splitting, and merging shapes, allowing users to customize their field maps accurately.

Drawing a Field

Click "Tools",

Click "Drawing Tools",

Select which shape you wish to draw.

Begin drawing your shape by clicking on the map to drop each point of the shape. When drawing a polygon, you must end where you started with a click to complete the shape..

If the shape needs to be edited before saving, hover over any point on the shape's perimeter, click and drag.

Areas can also be cut out of the newly drawn shape by selecting "Draw Polygon", "Draw Circle", or "Draw Rectangle".

You can use the "Undo" button to reverse your last action. If you undo too many steps, use the "Redo" button to restore the actions you removed. Note: As you draw the shape, the draw tool displays the resulting acreage.

Enter the field number you wish to use for the shape or click on "Save as RLU" (if applicable). It is suggested to turn on the CLU layer if you need a reference as to which Farm/Tract/Field number to use.

Click "Save Polygon". The field has now been applied to the policy map and can be reported.

Note: A shape saved as an RLU will not display on the map until the RLU ID is approved, the user opens the Manage RLU tool, or **Available RLUs** is selected in the Map Display Settings.

Splitting Shapes

**Editing a Shape** Adjusts the boundaries of a **CLU** by reshaping its perimeter. Users can refine existing outlines or create custom cut‑out areas within the CLU for more precise planning. **Splitting a Shape** Divides a single CLU into **two or more independent sections**, allowing users to manage **multiple planting events** or workflows separately.

Click "Tools".

Click "Drawing Tools".

Select the field to be split.

Click "Split Shape".

Select Split By: "Draw Line" or "Draw Circle"

Draw your split as desired. Click when finished.

Click "Save" to save if drawing a circle. Note: You will not need to click Save if splitting the field with a line.

The Split Shape window will display the new split shapes and will auto-assign suffixes for each piece. Adjust the acres for each piece if needed. Enter a Field Name for each piece if desired.

To save as an RLU, check the "Save as RLU" box. Add a unit to each piece if desired.

Click "Split" to save the new shapes.

The field is now split on the map.

Merging Shapes

Select two or more contiguous fields to be merged and click "Merge Shapes".

Enter the CLU number for the newly merged shape or save it as an RLU.

Click "Merge Shapes".

The selected fields now appear on the map as one field and can be reported.

Editing Fields

Click "Tools".

Click "Drawing Tools".

Click the shape to be edited.

Click "Edit Shape".

To adjust the boundary, hover over the field boundary until a yellow point appears. Select the point at the area you wish to move and drag it to the desired location.

Click "Save Changes".

The original boundary has been edited.

You can also adjust the area of a field by removing or cutting out specific sections within it. After selecting the field to be edited, select the shape you wish to draw.

Draw your shape by clicking on the map to drop each point of the shape.

The resulting Area will display on the "Edit Shape" window. The "Undo" button will reverse your last action, and the "Redo" button to restore the actions removed.

To save the shape as a CLU, click "Save Changes. To save it as an RLU, click "Save as RLU" first, then click "Save Changes".
