Apply for an EIN for an LLC on the IRS Website

This guide provides a straightforward process for applying for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) for your LLC through the IRS website; this is the simple process that Bizee charges $70 for. By following this guide, you can efficiently secure your EIN, enabling you to open business accounts and apply for credit without using your personal Social Security Number.

An EIN is like a social security number for your business. When you start business checking accounts or apply for business credit - this is the number you use as opposed to your SSN.

Navigate to [https://www.google.com/](https://www.google.com/)

Type "irs ein application [[Enter]]"

There will be a ton of ads near the top - you want to scroll down until you see the [IRS.gov](https://IRS.gov) website link

Click "Get an employer identification number | Internal Revenue Service"

Click "Apply for an EIN"

Click "Begin Application Now"

Click "Limited Liability Company (LLC)"

Click the "How many member(s) are in the LLC?*" field.

Type the same number you typed in your Bizee application

Select your state

Click "Started a new business"

Click "Continue"

Fill out all of your personal information

Click "I am one of the owners, members, or the managing member of this LLC."

Click "Continue"

Fill out your home address & phone number

Click "No"

Click "Continue"

Fill out the information about your LLC - make sure it is the same as you filled out in Bizee

Note that the 3rd field says "COUNTY" and not "COUNTRY"

Fill in the date that you entered your application on Bizee

Answer the YES/NO questions about your business and click "Continue"

Select your business type and click "Continue"

Click "Receive letter digitally in the next step"

Click "Submit EIN Request"

You will then get an update via email that your request has been received, as well as when you have been assigned an EIN. Once you have the EIN Number, follow the guide to setting up a business checking account.
