B.2.6a Correcting Issues in the Bank Feed, Part 1 (typo)

Scenario: You are reviewing transactions in the bank feed, and you see a transaction with no match. You are fairly certain you already entered it in QBO. Investigate to see what happened.

Now let's get started with the exercise.

Locate the Transaction in the Bank Feed

Start by finding the bank feed transaction.

On the left navigation bar, hover over "Accounting", then click "Bank transactions"

Filter to "Money out" transactions

Scroll until you see a Hicks Hardware transaction for $24.38. Click anywhere in the transaction to view more details.

Take note of the date and amount. *Note: The date of your transaction will differ from the one pictured below.*

Find the Existing Transaction

You remember entering a transaction for Hicks Hardware with similar details. Find the transaction.

From the left navigation bar, hover over "Expenses", then select "Vendors"

Click "Hicks Hardware"

You are now viewing a list of transactions for Hicks Hardware. Towards the bottom you can see a transaction for the same date, but the amount is off by $0.02. You must have typed it in wrong. *Note: the date for your transaction will vary from the one pictured below.*

Click "View/Edit"

Change the amount to "24.38" to match the bank transaction

Click "Save and close"

Match the Transaction in the Bank Feed

Now you can return to the bank feed and match the transaction.

On the left navigation bar, hover over "Accounting", then select "Bank transactions"

Click anywhere on the "Hicks Hardware" transaction line

The transaction now matches the existing transaction in QBO.

Click "Match"
