Building Your Dog's Pedigree

To build a dog's pedigree, first create a new dog by clicking on Dogs in the main menu and then the + sign on the top right of the screen. Then in the dog list click on that dog to select it. You will then see the below menu on the left. To go to the pedigree for your dog, click on [[Genealogy]] in this menu.

Now click on the [[Pedigree]] sub-tab under [[Genealogy]]. In the [[Generations]] drop-down at the top of the pedigree you can specify how many generations you want to see in one go (you can choose between 3 and 8 generations). The larger your monitor, the more generations you can easily work with.

To add an ancestor, click on the + sign in the top of an empty ancestor box. To edit a current ancestor click on the edit sign in the top of an ancestor box.

When you click on the add or edit ancestor icon you will see the below form where you can select a new ancestor. You can scroll through the available dogs or start typing in the Search box to filter the results. Once you have found the dog you are looking for, simply click on it to add it to the pedigree.

The selected dog will be added to the pedigree, including the ancestors of the selected dog.

If the ancestor you need to add is not yet in your database you can add a new dog. Click on [[Add New Dog]] in the list of available dogs.

This will open the [[Add Dog]] form where you can add the dog details. Once you save this it will automatically be added to the pedigree.

Duplicate dogs in the pedigree are marked by coloring them in the same color. Every duplicate dog with its duplicates will be marked in a different color.
