**Note on duration:**\
Due to the CBA, shorter reappointments are only allowed under certain conditions (see below). Often times post docs request an extension for a few months until they find a job or start their new job. This is no longer allowed with the CBA. The PI has 3 choices:
- The short reappointment falls under one of the allowable conditions
- The short reappointment does not fall under one of the allowable conditions, and they can decline the request to extend.
- The short we appointment does not fall under one of the allowable conditions, and their process a one year reappointment.
**Note on vacation:**\
If the PD leaves early, they are eligible for the full vacation time allocation (even if they leave shortly after the reappointment effective date):
- Short reappointment = 1.75 days per months of contract duration.
- 1-year reappointment = 21 days of vacation.
