Create a New Grade Scheme in VU Collaborate

Grade Schemes let you show student scores as letters (HD, D, C) or numbers (e.g., 3.0, 4.0). Common options include Percentage, Higher Ed Grading, and Honours Grading.

The Grade Scheme can only be created in a **Master Space** and can only be changed by **Block Convenors**, **Convenors** and **Block Key Academics**.

Log into [VU Collaborate](https://vucollaborate.vu.edu.au/d2l/home), and navigate to a unit space.

On the main menu, select **Assessments** then choose **Grades**.

To create a new grading scheme, select **Schemes** from the Gradebook menu bar and click **New Scheme**.

When creating a new scheme: **Name:** Give it a clear title.\ **Short Name:** Add a brief label for the gradebook.\ **Grade Ranges:** - Enter the grade **symbol** (e.g., 'A', 'Excellent', '4.0'). - Set the **minimum percentage** for that grade. - Pick a color. - Add the **numeric value to be assigned**.

To add more grade ranges, type the number you need in the **Number of Ranges** box, then click **Add Ranges**.

New ranges will appear at the bottom. Fill in the details for each one. To remove a range, click the **delete icon**. When you're done, click **Save and Close**.
