Create an H5P Interactive Book

The H5P Interactive Book allows creating small modules, books, or resources within VU Collaborate. Creators can combine videos, presentations, quiz questions, and more across pages. A summary page at the end shows students' progress, and creators or collaborators can generate a report on activity access within VU Collaborate.

Go to H5P Dashboard

Click **"Add Content"**

Enter keyword **"book"** in the search bar to filter down the content type.

Click on the search results to open the content type.

Enter a **"Title"** for the Interactive Book. Make sure you have a good naming convention, such as unit code and topic name, to use for searching, reports, and copyright information.

Add a Book Cover

Select **"Enable book cover"** to add a cover page to your activity.

Include a short description for the learners regarding the topic.

Click on **"Cover Media"** to add an optional background image or video of your choice for the cover page.

This is how the cover page appears to the students.

Add content to a page

The next step is to add pages and content to your book.

**Pages** located on your left-hand side, can be use to manage and add multiple chapters, activities or topics.

**Page Layout** allows you to add multiple rows and contents within a page. **Entering the Title** for each page to demonstrate each topic or chapter. The title name will later appear in the Pages column.

Choose the number of column layout.

Click **"Add content".**

Scroll down to select a **"Content"** from the list, or search for a specific one. Refer to the guide [H5P - Tutorials for authors](https://h5p.org/documentation/for-authors/tutorials) for different H5P creations.

Once you have selected a content type, you will be prompted to fill in the required descriptions and materials. For example, if you select the Video type, then it is required to provide a title and video source.

Click **"Add row"** to add another content or activity to your current page.

Any changes to the row can be made via options at the top.

Add another page

To add a new page, click **"Add Page"** from the Pages column.

Enter a Title and add a layout for your content.

To reorder the page, click on the **arrow** to move it up and down.

Behavioural settings

Using **Behaviroual Settings** to customise the look and feel, and functionality of your interactive book.

Click **"Behavioural settings"** to open the panel.

Going through each setting and ticking or unticking if needed.

To allow the Interactive Book to save student progress and enable them to resume where they left off, click **"LTI Settings"**.

Then, tick on the **"Allow logged-in users to resume content"**.

Click **"Save"** to apply changes.

Save and Preview

Once saved, click **"Read"** to preview and make any necessary edits.

To make changes, click **"Edit"** on the top of your screen.
