Creating Curriculum Maps

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to create curriculum maps. It explains how to add classes, populate the map with units, make changes to the map, and customise the term names. It also highlights the flexibility of the maps and the ability to archive and unarchive them. This guide is helpful for subject leaders and curriculum planners who want to effectively organise and plan their curriculum.

Click "Add Curriculum Map"

Add a title for your new curriculum, we've called ours "2024-2025" and Click "Create"

You'll now need to add classes/groups that you wish to appear in your curriculum plan. Click on "Add Group" and select your class. You will begin to see the classes you've added appear in your map. Repeat the process adding all the classes you need to the map.

You can now start populating your curriculum map. Click on the "+" for the class and term you wish to populate and select from the drop-down menu the unit you wish to be taught.

You will start to see your plan become populated with your chosen units.

Changes can also be made to classes/groups added to a map. This can be done by clicking the three dots next to a class's name. This will give you different options for editing your map, such as moving the position of a class on the map and changing the number of unit spaces for each class.

You can now see Year 2 have three units assigned for Autumn Term 1

Here is an example of a completed curriculum map for an academic year. You do not need to teach only the units that correspond to the year groups. You may find a different unit is more suitable; for example, if a Year 5 class has not played hockey before, it is worth starting with the introductory unit from Year 3.

You can edit the pre-filled term names with titles to suit your organisation. Click on the pencil icon next to the name, complete the box and click the green tick to save.

You can archive old maps, and unarchive them if needed. Check the box next to the map you wish to archive and select bulk action to choose what you would like to do with your plan. You can create as many plans as you like, creating historical data over the years.
