Creating a Field Layout File for Field Book in Breedbase

This SOP assumes you have already created a trial in BreedBase. Please refer to [Field Trials in BreedBase](https://scribehow.com/page/Field_Trials_in_BreedBase__DsMdiY1iSO2TMSTANEduVA?referrer=search) to learn more about creating trials.

Navigate to BreedBase

Click "Manage"

Click "Field Trials"

Select the trial you want to create the field layout file for in the right window. For this demo, we are using "TestCitrus". Double-click on the trial to open.

Scroll down on the trial detail page and expand the window for "Upload Data Files" by clicking the [[+]] sign.

Click "Create Field Book"

The following window will pop up in your browser. You can select which data level you want to collect data on (plot, subplot, plant, etc...) in the dropdown next to "Data Level" You can choose which columns to include in the field layout file by clicking either the [[-]] or [[+]] buttons next to the columns names.\ Click here. In the bottom portion you can elect to include existing plot phenotypes, plot order, summaries of accession performance, and stats in the file. You can also choose to use trait synonyms instead of the full names.

Once you have selected all of the options you want, click "Submit" to create the file.

A pop-up will appear like below that provides a link to download the new field layout file. Click the link to download. Click "Close"

If you accidentally exit the window before downloading you can still access the file. Click "Manage"

Click "Field Book App"

On the Field Book App page you will see the file you created and can download by clicking "Download File"

Once your file downloads, you can open it and check the information you want is there. Here is the example we downloaded in this SOP.
