Creating an Epic and Story in Jira

Scrum model Epic Workflow

- **Click on “Timeline”**\ In the left-hand navigation menu, select **Timeline** (formerly known as Roadmap). - **Click “+ Create Epic” or “+ Add Item”** - If no epics exist yet, you’ll see a **“+ Create Epic”** button — click it. - If there are already items on the timeline, click **“+ Add Item”** and choose **Epic**.

- Click Create Epic

- Enter Summary for your Epic

***Creating Epic from "Create(+)" button in header*** - Click "**Create (+)**" button

- Click on Work Type dropdown

- Select Epic from dropdown

- Select Sprint (Optional Step)

- Choose a Sprint from dropdown list as per your requirement

- Click the "**Summary**" field and enter summary of your choice

- Enter Description on what needs to be done

- Select "**Priority**" dropdown and choose priority as per your requirement

- Add "**Labels"** if required

- User can choose label from the dropdown or can create a new label

- User can choose a team from the **"Team"** dropdown.

- User can also add attachments under "**Attachment**" field

- User can add "**Assignee** ,**Start date** and **Due Date**" and clicks on **Create** button on bottom right corner and **Epic** will be created.

- Scrum Model **"User Story"** workflow

***Steps to create a User Story*** - Click on "**Create (+)**" icon on header

- Select '**Work Type'** dropdown

- Choose "**Story**" from dropdown

- Click the "**Summary**" field and add summary as per the user requirement

- Select **Parent** dropdown

- Choose a "**Parent Epic**" from the list or can search with epic key.

- Add **Description** on what needs to be done as per the user requirement

- By default work creator will be added as **Reporter** for the user story

- Click **Priority** dropdown and select priority from the list.

- Select **Labels** dropdown and choose a label from the list or user can create a new label

- Select Team dropdown and choose a team from the list

- Add attachments if any

- User can add "**Assignee** ,**Start date** and **Due Date**"

- Clicks on **Create** button on bottom right corner and **Story** will be created.
