Customize Layer Styling in Spotzi

Layer Styling: Point Layers

You can apply custom styling to any point layer, including custom location uploads, points of interest (POIs), and Out-of-Home (OOH) asset layers. Select the layer you would like to style.

The styling panel will open. Under the Type section, choose between Circle and Icon styling.

Selecting "Icon" allows you to represent locations using icons from Spotzi's icon library.

Choose an icon from the popup window.

The locations on your map will update to display the selected icon.

Selecting "Circle" allows you to customize the appearance of your points using fill and border colors. Click the color swatches under "Color" and "Border Color" to select new colors. You can also adjust the opacity to make your points more or less transparent.

Style Points Based on Your Data

You can automatically assign colors based on data values in your layer. Click the "Color based on" dropdown and select a column. The values in the selected column will determine how colors are assigned to your locations.

If you select a text column, each unique value will be assigned its own color. Locations sharing the same value will be displayed using the same color.

Use the Color Palette dropdown to choose from Spotzi's predefined color schemes.

You can also customize colors individually by clicking a color swatch. Choose a color from the color picker or enter an RGB or HEX color code.

Layer Styling: Polygon Layers

You can apply custom styling to any polygon layer, including postal code layers and custom-drawn polygons. Select the polygon layer you would like to style.

The styling panel will open. Polygon layers use the "Fill" styling type.

Adjust the fill opacity to control the transparency of your polygons.\ \ Setting the fill opacity to 0 while keeping borders enabled displays polygons as outlines only. Increasing the opacity makes the polygons more solid and prominent.

Use the "Border Color" option to change the outline color of your polygons. This color will be applied to all polygons in the layer. You can also disable borders entirely if you only want the polygon fills to be visible.

Style Polygons Based on Your Data

You can use data values to automatically style your polygons. Click the "Color based on" dropdown and select a column. The selected column will determine how colors are assigned to your polygons.

If you select a text column, each unique value can be assigned its own color. Polygons with matching values will be styled accordingly.

If you select a number column, polygons can be styled using numeric ranges from your data.

You can customize the color palette or assign your own colors to each range or value.

Adding Map Labels

Scroll to the bottom of the styling panel and enable "Labels".

Select the column you would like to use for labels.

The corresponding value from that column will be displayed as a label on each map object.

Adding a Custom Legend

Scroll to the bottom of the styling panel and enable Legend.

Optionally enter a title for the legend.

The title will appear above the legend values associated with the layer.

Rename Legend Values

By default, legend labels will match the values in your data. You can customize how values appear in the legend using the "Custom Colors" section. Select the value you would like to rename, and enter a new label in the text field.

The legend will update automatically.

Group Legend Values

You can also combine multiple values into a single legend category. Assign the same color to the values you would like to group together. Give one of the values a new label that represents the combined category.

Use the eye icon to hide the remaining values from the legend. The hidden values will still appear on the map using their assigned color.

The result is a simplified legend that groups multiple data values into a single category while preserving the underlying map styling.
