Getting Started

First, select the cells or range of cells that you want to format as currency. You can do this by clicking and dragging your mouse over the cells or clicking on the first cell and then holding Shift while clicking on the last cell of the range.

Right-click on the selected cells and choose **Format Cells** from the context menu. Alternatively, you can press **Ctrl +1** (Cmd + 1 on Mac) to open the Format Cells dialog box.

In the Format Cells dialog box, click on the **Number** tab if it's not already selected.

Changing the Currency Symbol

Under the Category list on the left, select **Currency**. This will change the options available in the dialog box to currency-specific formatting.

Choose your desired currency symbol from the Symbol dropdown list. Excel automatically selects the currency based on your system locale settings, but you can change this.
