Examples of Rule Options in Asana

This guide provides examples of rule options in Asana, a project management tool. It covers various scenarios such as adding tasks to additional projects, automatically adding collaborators, moving tasks to different sections, marking tasks as complete, creating subtasks, and organizing form submissions.

Asana

To access rules within a project, select "customize" on the right hand side.

Click "Add rule"

Example 1- Add a Task to an Additional Project

Click "Task is added to this project → Add to an additional project"

Click "Add to an additional project"

Click the "Project name" field.

Select which project you would like each task added to.

Click "Create rule"

Example 2- Automatically add a Collaborator to a Task

Click "Add rule"

Click "Task is added to this project → Add collaborators"

Click "Add collaborators"

Click the "Name or email" field and enter the name or email of the collaborator you would like to add.

Click "Create rule"

Example 3- When Completion Status is Changed, Add to Another Section

Click "Add rule"

Click "Task or all subtasks completion status is changed → Move task to a certain section"

Click here to select which section the completed tasks will be moved to.

Click "Untitled section"

Select the section where completed tasks will be moved to.

Click "Create rule"

Click "Add rule"

Example 4- When All Subtasks are Marked as Complete, Mark Main Task as Complete

Click "Add trigger"

Click "Task or all subtasks completion status is changed"

Click "Clear or set completion status to…"

Example 5- When Task is Approved, Create Subtasks

Click "Add rule"

Example 6- Form Submissions Should be Added to a Specific Section

Click "Add rule"

Click here to choose the source of the task.

This needs to be changed to form submissions which will be an option to click once a form has been added to that project.

Click "Add action" to choose where the form submissions will go.

Click "Move to a section"

Click "Untitled section"

Select the section where you would like all form submissions to go to automatically.

Click "Create rule"
