Sign in to **AWS Management Console** as an **IAM User** **Pre-requisite** - Ensure you have selected the AWS region closest to your location\ For this guide, we will be using us-east-2 (Ohio) as a preferred choice

Type **RDS** in the search bar and click on **Aurora & RDS** to view the Aurora & RDS Dashboard

**What is Aurora & RDS in AWS?** **Aurora & RDS** are managed database services by AWS that simplify the setup, operation, and scaling of relational databases in the cloud, with **Aurora** providing a high-performance, MySQL- and PostgreSQL-compatible engine for superior speed and reliability.

On **Aurora & RDS** dashboard, scroll to the Create database section and click on the **Create database** button

**Create database** wizard will open, choose the option **Standard create**

Scroll to the **Engine options** section, select the option **MySQL**

**What is MYSQL Engine type in RDS?** In Amazon RDS (Relational Database Service), the MySQL engine type refers to the MySQL database engine that is available as a managed service. Scroll to the **Engine Version** section and from the dropdown section and select the option **MySQL 8.0.35** or whichever is the latest version

Scroll to the **Templates** section and select the option **Production**

Scroll to the **Connectivity** section, select the option **Don't connect to an EC2 compute resource** for the **Compute resource**

Scroll to the **Additional configuration** section and tick the checkbox **Enable Enhanced Monitoring for all instances in the cluster**

**Why to Enable Enhanced Monitoring?** Enabling Enhanced Monitoring for all instances in a cluster provides detailed insights into the performance and health of your Amazon RDS instances, allowing you to monitor key operating system metrics at a granular level.

Scroll to the **Backup** section and tick the checkbox **Enable automated backups**

**Why Enable automated backups?** Enabling automated backups ensures that your Amazon RDS instances are automatically backed up on a regular schedule, providing data protection, point-in-time recovery, and disaster recovery capabilities.

Scroll to the **Encryption** section and tick the checkbox **Enable encryption**

**Why Enable encryption for the cluster?** Enabling encryption for your Amazon RDS instances enhances data security and confidentiality by encrypting data at rest, protecting sensitive information from unauthorized access or exposure.

Scroll to the **Log exports** section, here you can checkbox the Logs for Amazon CloudWatch

Scroll to the **Maintenence** section and tick the checkbox **Enable auto minor version upgrade**

**Why to Enable auto minor version upgrade?** Enabling auto minor version upgrade for your Amazon RDS instances automates the process of applying minor database engine upgrades, ensuring that your database instances remain up-to-date with the latest patches, bug fixes, and security enhancements provided by the database engine vendor.

Scroll to the **Deletion protection** section, tick the checkbox **Enable deletion protection**
