Filtering the viewer allows you to focus on a particular region of your sample. It can also be helpful for selecting regions to annotate ([see annotation scribe](https://scribehow.com/viewer/Create_Custom_Annotations__Irf3VrFbT8ejDlPVATqz4Q)). While this walkthrough shows the data viewed spatially, this can also be done in the UMAP view of the dataset (see main tutorial page for toggle location).
Filtering by Gene/Motif of Interest and Continuous Observations
1
To filter on a gene click on the three dots next to the gene name
2
Click "Add Filter"
3
Click on the three dots next to a QC metric in the continuous observations to instead filter on one of these metrics.
4
Pick from the dropdown the type of filtering
5
Type in the value you want to filter to and click "Add"
6
The viewer will automatically adjust the scale bar to the new view. You can change this in the plots settings.
7
Click on "Full Dataset" if you prefer to use the original scaling
8
Click the "x" next to a filter to remove it
Filtering on Categorical Observations
9
The dataset can also be filtered on Categorical Observations such as clustering. Click the arrow next to an observation to see the categories it contains.
10
Click on the eye next to each category (hover over category for eye to appear) to show or hide that category from view
11
Click "Only" to instead have only that category visualized
12
Click the eye to the right of the observation to clear all hidden values from that category
Determining Present Filters
13
Click on "active filter" on the bottom left of the screen to see all current filters. Click the "x" next to a filter to remove it
