Filtering, Grouping, and Sorting the CMIP7 Data Request

Filtering

To apply one or more filters to a table, click the 'Filter' button.

Click 'Add condition'

Choose which field you would like to apply the filter on

Here we have selected 'Lead theme'

Choose which type of logic you would like to apply

Here we have selected "has any of..."

Choose your condition to filter on. Here we need to select which lead theme(s) we want to filter the data by.

We have chosen to filter for Opportunities for which the review has been led by the Atmosphere theme.

Click anywhere on the screen to close the filter pop-up. You will now see only Opportunities which being led by the Atmosphere Author Team. These themes likely have a strong Atmospheric Science focus. Alternatively, they could be a cross-thematic Opportunity, such as the Rapid Evaluation Framework Opportunity.

Fields which have a filter condition applied to them will appear shaded in light green.

You might want to add additional filters. To do this, click the filter button again. As we already have a filter applied, the button will now be green.

We could add a conditional group for more complex logic. To do this click the 'Add condition group' option.

Click the '+' in the grey box which will appear.

We will now add the additional logic that as well as having 'Atmosphere' as the lead theme, the Opportunities must have **either** a data volume under 10 **or** have requested the Experiment Groups DECK **and** scenarios.**

To remove any filters, click on the green filter button

Click the trash can icon next to the condition you want to remove.

Grouping

To group the data by any conditions, click "Group"

Here we are choosing to group the Opportunities by their 'Lead theme'.

Fields which have a grouping condition applied to them will be highlighted in purple, like the Lead theme column below.

You can add further subgroups if needed.

Sorting

Click the 'Sort' button to add a sort to the data.

Here we want to sort the Opportunities in alphabetical order base on their title.

The Opportunities are now sorted alphabetically.

When both a sort and group are applied to a table, the sort will be applied separately to each group of records. I.e. in our example here, Opportunities will be sorted from A-->Z within the Atmosphere group, then again from A-->Z within the Earth System group, and so on.

Alternatively, we might want to sort data by their "Data volume estimate" from lowest to highest.

Fields which have a sort condition applied to them will be highlighted in light orange.
