The Find a Troop map allows prospective Troop Members to locate a nearby chartered Trail Life Troop. The site will initially default to displaying Troops within 30 miles of the individual’s current location.
3
A search box is also available, which allows for searching within a different area (by address, city, state, zip, etc.)
4
The closest chartered Troops will appear as Trail Life logo pins on the provided Google map. Additionally, a list of nearby Troops is presented in list form below the search tool.
5
A map pin can be clicked, or a Troop name/location can be clicked in the list, to expand more information about that Troop.
6
Provided information may include links to the Troop website, listed meeting days/times, and/or a brief description about the Troop.
7
All listed Troops will contain the button option to “Connect with” the Troop.
8
Clicking the “Connect” button will result in a dialogue box for entering basic contact information.
9
The "Submit Form" button will send the entered contact information to the Troop for follow up.
10
For Troops, the Core leadership can control the location of the map pin, as well as what information is provided about the Troop on the Find a Troop website. These items are all found on the Troop’s “General Settings” page within Trail Life Connect. (Located at <https://www.traillifeconnect.com>)
11
Any Core Leader can expand ‘Troop Settings’ on the left menu.
12
Then click “General Settings” to open the page containing the Troop’s settings.
13
The Troop Meeting Location address information controls the location of the map pin on the Find a Troop website. This data should reflect the name and address for where the Troop holds its regular meetings.
14
If desired, the Troop can list a website and/or social media site. If these sites are populated here, prospective members can click a link for each (on the Find a Troop website) to learn more about the Troop.
15
The optional ‘Brief Troop Overview’ dialogue box is an additional opportunity for the Troop to provide some initial information to prospective members about the Troop. Anything entered into this dialogue box will appear when someone clicks the Troop’s name or map pin on the Find a Troop website.
16
The days and times when the Troop holds regular meetings can be specified. Beyond listing these details, the Troop leaders can also decide whether to display these meeting days & times on the Find a Troop website.
17
Further down the 'General Settings' page, under the section for "Troop Support & Find a Troop," the Troop leaders can specify: - Which leader(s) will receive an email notification when a Member Prospect first submits an interest form (within the field for 'Find a Troop Contacts') - The Troop's current status regarding bringing in new members (using the drop-down next to 'Find a Troop Status')
