Group Management Tools for Group Leaders

This guide is essential for group leaders seeking to effectively manage their groups. It offers instructions on utilizing various tools, such as managing group information, user roles, and communication through notifications and events. It also includes information about managing group blocks if the Group Leader has been provided that advanced permission.

Group page layout will vary depending on the layout, but there is always a differentiation between Group Leaders vs. Group Members. **Group Leaders can perform the following functions within a group:** - Edit **Group name, description, demographics** - Add **News & Events** - Items created in the News & Events block will send a notification to group members - They will see on their Dashboard in News & Events as well as in Notifications by clicking on bell icon in header - They will receive a notification push to their registered email - **Manage Users**: invite, remove and change user role - **Add resources to the group** - Unless the Group and/or Group Leader has advanced permissions provided, all resources added to a group are only visible to group. members - When advanced permissions are provided; resources can be made public within the platform using one of the following options: - Change ownership of resources to the group and make public - Use the Endorsement tool to make resources public - See [Making Objects Public Guide](https://scribehow.com/shared/Making_Objects_Public_Owned_by_Group_OR_Endorsement_Options__gDmkDAKsSDayiPaXvFVDNg?referrer=documents)

**Group Toolbar** **All members of the group have access to the following toolbar tools:** - Send a Message - Favorite - Share - Add to Collection - Flag - Site Tour **Group Leaders have access to the following toolbar tools:** - Manage Group - Manage Members

**Manage Members Gears Icon** **Group Members Tab: view all members of the group.** - From here, change the status of a member to a leader, or remove from the group. This can be done by clicking on the applicable profile icon and selecting the desired option. **Member Invitations Tab:** Invite new members to the group by name. Use this tab if the user already has a registered account in the platform. **Invite Members by Email**: Invite new members to the group by email. Use this if you are not sure if a user has a registered account and/or you would prefer to invite them by email. If a user does not yet have a registered account, they will be prompted to do so as part of accepting the group invitation.

Managing Group Widgets

If a user has been provided the advanced permissions to manage the group widgets, they will be able to Manage Page Widgets from the gears icon within the toolbar on the right side of the page.

*Clicking* Manage Page Widgets from the gears icon will move the group to edit mode. In edit mode, the page has a left column and a main column; both outlined by dotted lines. The group widgets must sit in the left or right column.

*Click* the Add Block in the top left corner of the page to add new blocks to the group. Clicking on any widget within the group will open the widget panel where the various tools exist to set up the block. When a widget is clicked on, a red box will display around the widget. Other features accessed by clicking on the widget include: - Move the widget by clicking on the Move - Make a copy of the widget by clicking on the copy icon - Click on the red garbage can to delete the widget
