How To: Issue an Ad Hoc Alert for a Student

This guide shows you how to issue an ad hoc alert for a student through Navigate. Learn how to select the correct reasons and add comments to ensure your alert is handled appropriately.

Issue Alert from Staff Home

Navigate to <https://pittstate.campus.eab.com/home#?tab-state=students_tab_hash> Click on **Staff Home**.

From your **Students** tab, click on the box next to the student you want to issue an alert for. ***Note:*** *You can issue an alert for more than one student at a time by clicking next to more than one students name, but the reason for the alert must be the same for each student.*

From the **Actions** dropdown, select **Issue Alert**.

Issue Alert from Professor Home

Click the **Staff Home** dropdown to go to **Professor Home**.

Scroll down to the **Student In My Courses** or **Assigned Students** section and select the box next to the student you want to issue an alert for.

From the **Actions** dropdown, select **Issue Alert**.

Issue an Alert for a Student Not Assigned to You

From **Staff Home** or **Professor Home**, go to **Actions** on the right hand side and click **Issue an Alert**.

Issue Alert Dialogue Box

The **Issue Alert** dialogue box will appear. If you selected a student when issuing an alert, the student name will be displayed. If you selected more than one student, you should see all students selected.

If you did not select a student prior to issuing an alert, the student name will not be pre-selected. You will need to search for the student in the **Issue An Alert** dialogue box.

You must select at least one reason for the alert. You may choose more than one reason.

If the alert is associated with a specific class, you can select from the list of enrolled courses. This is optional.

The details and action taken for each alert reason will be noted at the bottom of the dialogue box. The actions taken may change based on the alert reason selected.

If you choose **Other - Student Success Center Intervention Requested** as the alert reason, you **MUST** enter information into the **Additional Comments** field. ***Note:*** *A case will be opened and assigned to a staff member within the Student Success Center prompting immediate action taken for this alert.*

When finalized, click **Submit**.

From **Professor Home**, scroll down to **My Issued Alerts**.
