How To Manage Reserved Seating Enrollment Information

Navigate to the Banner SSASECT form.

Click the "Section Enrollment Information" tab.

Click the "Reserved Seats" sub-tab.

The first row is for the general population. You may update this value by clicking directly in the number field and entering the new number. This example shows five seats reserved for the general population. Use the down arrow on your keyboard to create a new row or click the insert button. Click in the "Reserved Seats Details" column that you would like to reserve seats for and enter the designated code. You may select any of the 15 "Reserved Seats Details" rule options. This example displays reserved seats for the Field of Study Type 'Major'.

When selecting Field of Study Type, you must also enter a Field of Study Code. Click in the Field of Study Code field adjacent to the Field of Study Type you have already entered. This examples shows the Field of Study Code AFRS. To add the reserved maximum, Click on the "0" in the highlighted row and type the number of seats you are reserving for the highlighted row of "Reserved Seats Details" rule.

Note: Reserved seating does *not* check for a valid combination of 'Field of Study Type' and 'Field of Study Code'.

In this example, two seats are reserved for AFRS majors. Use the down arrow or click the insert button to create another row, if necessary. Enter a new "Reserved Seats Details" rule. Click on the "0" for that corresponding row and enter a new reserved maximum by typing a new value over the "0".

Note: **Do Not** use the waitlist feature with reserved seating. Any technical or registration issues that arise with using the waitlist feature and reserved seating will not be supported by OneIT.

Click on the drop down arrow to select the number of rows that may be viewed per page.

Continue to enter as many "Reserved Seats Details" rules as needed However, keep in mind that the 'Total Reserved' seat 'Maximum' should not exceed the room's capacity.

This examples displays 5 seats for general population, 2 seats for AFRS majors, 2 seats for HIST majors and 1 seat for SPAN minors. Totaling 10 seats for this section. Click "Save" when you have completed entering the "Reserved Seats Details" rules and the corresponding 'Reserved Maximum' values.

You will receive a 'Warning Alert' to acknowledge that you are changing the original maximum number. Click "Yes"

Available seats may be used in the general population when seats on the "Reserved Seats Details" rule have been filled.

Note: Making updates to the maximum enrollment must be done on the "Reserved Seats" tab after reserved seating rules have been established. The max enrollment field on the "Enrollment Details" tab will be disabled and protected from update.

Click the 'Overflow' box next to the reserved rule to allow students to register for those unreserved available seats. Click "Save"

AFRS majors can now use any available seats in the general population, when the 'Reserved Maximum' seats for AFRS majors has been filled.

Note: You can only delete reserved seating when no enrollment exists for the reserved seating. When enrollment exists that meets the reserved seating requirement, you will not be allowed to delete reserved seating.
