How To Submit a Student Absence Request in Skyward

Sign into your Skyward Family Access account and navigate to the home screen. Under the student you want to submit the absence request for, click the **Attendance** tile.

If it's not already selected, click the **Absence Requests** tab to open it. Then, click the **Add Absence Request** option on the right side.

On the **Add Absence Request** screen, provide the following information: - **Start Date & End Date:** The dates the student's absence will begin/end. - **All Day:** Check this box to indicate if the student will be absent for the full day, or specify the time range of the absence. - **Attendance Reason:** Select a reason for the absence from the dropdown menu. - **Guardian Comment:** Provide any additional comments regarding the absence. You can also upload a file (such as a doctor's note) in the file upload box at the bottom. When finished, click the **Save** button in the top-left corner.

If you need to make changes after submitting a request, go back to the **Attendance** page and click **Edit** next to the request you'd like to update.

From this page, you can update the request as needed. If you need to upload a doctor's note, click **Attachments**, then click **Add Attachment** to upload an image or document. When finished, click **Save & Back**.
