How to Assign a Cart

UCIBuy+ allows users to assign their cart to another user. A single cart can be assigned multiple times, allowing multiple users to add to the same cart. Additionally, users may utilize the feature to send their carts to the user responsible for purchasing in their lab/department. Users with the Shopper role must assign their cart to a Requisitioner or Department Buyer, as the Shopper role does not allow order submission.

**READ FIRST:** If issues occur when logging into UCIBuy+, confirm that one of the supported browsers—**Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Mozilla Firefox**—is being used. Ensure employment status with the university is active in UCPath. In the browser settings, allow **pop-ups** and **third-party cookies**. **READ BEFORE MOVING FORWARD:** Shoppers are required to assign a cart to a requisitioner, but it is optional for the requisitioner and department buyer roles.

Navigate to<https://ucibuy.uci.edu/>and enter single-sign on credentials.

Assigning a Cart

Select the **shopping cart** icon on the top right corner of the screen.

Select the **View My Cart** button.

Select **Proceed to Checkout**.

Select the **Assign Cart** button.

Select **Search**.

Complete one or more of the provided filters to search for a user. The filters most likely to provide the shortest lists are **Email** and/or **Last Name** and **First Name** (e.g. Input **Ching** in the **Last Name**). Select **Search**.

After locating the desired user in the system, press the **plus (+)** icon next to their name.

Select the **Assign** button.

**NOTE**: Selecting the checkbox next to **Add to Profile** will add a cart assignee to a list of default cart assignees. This list can be accessed by clicking **Select**. For example, a department's purchasing coordinator can be added as a default cart assignee, allowing users to skip the steps above in order to find the correct user.

The system will confirm that the cart has been assigned to a user.

Unassigning/Returning a Cart

**NOTE**: Unassigning is an action taken by the cart's original creator (i.e. the user who originally assigned the cart). Returning is an action by the cart's assignee. Both actions remove the cart from the assignee's list of carts and returns it to the original creator's. The cart can then be reassigned to a different user.

Go to **Shop** > **My Carts and Orders** > **View Carts**.

Select **Assigned Carts**.

Select **Show menu** of the desired cart. Select **Unassign** (to be used by original cart creator) or **Return** (to be used by cart assignee).
