How to Complete an AccessIndex accessibility questionnaire.

AccessIndex, backed by VisitEngland’s Key Accessibility Features project, helps you understand your business’s current accessibility. Complete the short questionnaire to understand how to describe your accessibility facilities, standardise information online, automatically update your profiles on connected destination websites, and get a summary by email to reuse on your own site. Each questionnaire will take no longer then 10 minutes to complete.

You will receive an email from AccessIndex

You will receive an email from AccessIndex. The email will be titled Welcome to AccessIndex, and will confirm that an AccessIndex account has been created for you. On the email you will see a list of all the businesses, venues or organisations which you are an administrator of. Please check that the list is correct (if anything in the list is incorrect please notify your regular contact for the website in question). On the email you will see a link to 'Log In' - if everything looks to be in order click the link.

Tip! *The link from the email will expire in 48 hours. If you don't manage to get to it in time that's fine you can go to the [AccessIndex Login Page](https://accessindex.co.uk/login) and click the 'Forgot Your Password?' link and follow the instructions to login that way.*

How to Log In to AccessIndex

Clicking on the 'Log In' link in the email will take you to this 'Magic Login' page. Simply input your email address and you'll then receive an email to your inbox immediately with a link which when clicked will log you into AccessIndex immediately.

Information! *The Magic Login approach means you do not have to remember any passwords.*

Completing an AccessIndex Questionnaire

When you are logged in you'll be presented with a dashboard which shows the status of all the questionnaires for the businesses, venues and organisations which are assigned to you. You will be able to 'View' and 'Edit' any questionnaires you have already completed, and for any that you have not yet started you will see a 'Complete Questionnaire' button. Click this and you'll be taken to the questionnaire.

You will be taken to the questionnaire, which will look like the below. The questions asked will be different depending on the sector/type of business, venue or organisation you are completing it for.

Read each of the questions carefully, in all of the sections. Tick the boxes where you can confidently answer 'yes' to the question which is being asked. If you can not confidently answer yes to the question leave the box unticked. Go through all of the questions and tick the appropriate boxes.

After you have been through all questions you will be presented with an option to to provide any other detailed accessibility information you may hold. If you have a detailed accessibility page on your own website which provides further accessibility information then put the URL of that page into the 'Your website URL' box. If you have a link to an AccessAble guide then put the URL for that page into the 'AccessAble Guide URL' box.

If you do not have detailed accessibility information such as a dedicated page on your website or a AccessAble guide, then select the no box on the right where you have the opportunity to input an email and telephone number which are dedicated to accessibility enquiries.

Tip! *Underneath the 'Submit Questionnaire' botton, and towards the end of the questionnaire page there is a set of FAQs which are dedicated to the category specific questionnaire that you are working on.* *These are very helpful if you are unsure of how to answer questions.*

When you are confident that you have been through all the questions and ticked the boxes you can confidently answer yes to, and completed the additional accessibility information underneath the questions click 'Submit Questionnaire'.

After you have clicked 'Submit Questionnaire' you will be taken back to the top of the questionnaire page where your response details will be confirmed.

You can scroll down the page to see the customer facing explanations for the questions you answered 'yes' to (i.e. the boxes you ticked).

If you'd like to make changes to the questionnaire you can do this by clicking the 'Edit Response' button in the top right corner of this page.

After you have clicked the 'Edit Response' button and go through the questionnaire again and update your responses accordingly.

When you have finished editing click the 'Update Response' button at the end of the questionnaire.

You can get back the screen which list out all the questionnaires for all the businesses, venues or organisations which have been assigned to you by clicking on the 'Back to All Responses' link.

Clicking the 'Back to My Responses' or the 'Dashboard' link in the navigation will take you back to your main dashboard page where you will be able to view all the questionnaires which are assigned to you.

Tip! After you submit the AccessIndex questionnaire, any business profiles you have on connected websites will be automatically updated with your responses. You’ll also receive an email confirming your responses, along with suggested wording to describe your accessibility features. This wording is based on VisitEngland’s Key Accessibility Features project, which aims to make accessibility information clearer, more consistent and more meaningful for visitors. We recommend you reuse this wording across all the places your business appears online – your own website, destination listings, booking platforms and directories. Using the same clear description everywhere helps visitors with accessibility and inclusion needs quickly understand whether your business is right for them, builds trust, and reduces the risk of confusion or outdated information.
