How to Configure Account Default Goals in Google Ads

Learn how to properly configure Account Default Goals in Google Ads by enabling “Purchase” as the only account-default goal and disabling all other goal categories.

Navigate to [https://ads.google.com](https://ads.google.com/aw/conversions?ocid=833620922&ascid=833620922&euid=929714583&__u=9921495967&uscid=6478487745&__c=3688320505&authuser=0) and go to "Goals" → "Summary"

Scroll to the “Purchase” goal category and click “Edit goal”.

Open the “Account default” section to review whether this goal category is used as an account-default goal.

Make sure the toggle “Make this an account-default goal” is **enabled** for the “Purchase” goal category and save the updated setting.

Only “Purchase” should be configured as an account-default goal to avoid conflicting optimization signals.

Now check all other goal categories such as Add to cart, Begin checkout, Page view, Submit lead form, Sign-up, or Engagement etc. For each non-purchase goal category, open “Edit goal” and make sure the “Make this an account-default goal” toggle is turned **OFF**. Only Purchase should be enabled as the account-default goal.
