How to Configure LockDown Browser and Monitor for Exams

This guide provides a step-by-step approach to configuring the LockDown Browser and Monitor for exams, ensuring a secure testing environment. Moodle

Adding the Respondus Block (Dashboard)

Navigate to your Moodle Course

Ensure the "Edit mode" field is turned on.

Open the "block drawer" by clicking on the tab:

Click "Add a block".

Click "Respondus LockDown Browser".

Click "Open block drawer".

Click "Dashboard ..." to take you to the RLDB Dashboard, where you can turn on the use of the tool for each Quiz.

LockDown Browser

Open the menu settings by clicking on this icon:

Click "Settings".

Click the "Require LockDown Browser for this exam" field to turn on the setting.

Click "Advanced Settings" to see special settings.

Respondus Monitor (Online Proctoring)

If you want a digital monitor click the "Require Respondus Monitor (automated proctoring) for this exam" field. Live proctoring can also be used via Zoom, etc.

Clicking "Webcam + Screen" to select the option to record both the webcam and screen.

Clicking "Screen Only" will only record just the screen of the user, showing you their quiz attempt

Clicking "Webcam Only" will only record the webcam, showing you only the user.

Click "Save + Close".

Click the quiz that you just set up LockDown Browser for.

If you see "This quiz has been configured so that students may only attempt it using the Respondus LockDown Browser", you have set it up correctly.
