How to Create an Account in the Kansas Commerce Grant Portal

Below are instructions on how to register for an account with the Kansas Commerce grant portal to apply for funding. You will need to register an account for yourself in your organization before applying to a grant program. If you have any questions please contact kdc_salesforce.admin@ks.gov

Navigate to <https://kansascommerce.my.site.com/Grants/s/login/>

Click "Need to Register?"

Click "Registration"

Enter personal information into the boxes. Please use a business phone number for your account.

If you are applying on behalf of an organization, and the organization will receive funds, click the first button. If you are applying on behalf of yourself and you will personally receive funds, click the second button.

Enter your business email and your organization's name.

Click "Next"

Click "Finish" on the next page. You will receive an email from the Kansas Department of Commerce with a link to complete your account in the grant portal. Please click on the link and continue to the next step.

You will need to create a password for your account. The title is "change password" but the steps create the first password for your account.

Click "Change Password", this will be the first password for your account.

Click "Create Account Relationship"

In the first stage you registered as yourself, but now you will need continue registration by connecting your account to your organization to finish your registration. The next steps in the registration process does this by creating an 'Account Relationship'. For example, I am Renee and I work at the Kansas Department of Commerce, and I would like to apply for grants on behalf of my agency. In the first stage I registered as Renee, but now I need to finish registration by linking to the Kansas Department of Commerce. It is impossible to register or log in as my organization, the Kansas Department of Commerce. I must register as myself and add myself as an employee of the Kansas Departmnet of Commerce.

Enter the exact legal name of your organization.

Tip! If you are a consultant or a grant writer applying on behalf of another organization, you will need to register as your organization using this process (e.g, account name would be Renee's Example Consulting Firm, and my account type would be a business). Once your account is created, you will then add the organization you are applying on behalf of as a new account relationship following the steps on the account relationship tab on the home page of the portal. Select the type of account your organization is.

Tip! KDC has four categories of account types. Businesses are for-profit business entities. Government entities are any subdivision of government including cities, counties, public libraries, and public universities. Nonprofit entities are registered 501c(3) and 501(c)6 organizations. Tribal entities are affiliated with tribal nations and governments. If you are unsure what account type your organization is, please reach out to the contact for the program you are going to apply for.

Select the grant program you intend to apply for.

Click "Next"

Click "Continue Account Request and Submit"

Select your main role with your organization.

Click "Search for Account"

If your organization has an account that has been created with the portal before, you should be able to select it from the drop-down menu. In my case I selected the "Kansas Department of Commerce" option. If your organization does not have an account it is shows as "None" please skip to Step 25.

Tip! If you are certain that an organization account has been created before, but you cannot find it, make sure you are using the exact legal name. If you cannot find it please contact [kdc_salesforce.admin@ks.gov](mailto:kdc_salesforceadmin@ks.gov)

If the information matches your organization, select the "Yes" option.

Click "Continue"

After this step your registration will be complete and you will be able to apply for a grant on the portal homepage.

If your organization has not been registered in the portal before when you search for an account the drop down will only say 'None.' You will need to continue on this page to create and account for the organization. Click "None"

Click "Continue"

Click the "\*Additional Information?" field and add information on your role at the organization. This is to help verify that you are associated with the organization.

Add an additional contact for your organization

Add an email and phone number for your organization.

Search for the legal address of your organization.

Add any apartment or suite numbers to the Street field.

If your billing and shipping address are the same, click the box below.

Click "Submit Section & CREATE ACCOUNT"

Your registration is now complete and you will be able to apply for a grant on the Kansas Commerce grant portal homepage.
