How to Create and Award a Child Bounty

In this guide, we will demonstrate how to create and award a child bounty using a batch call. We will also include proposing and approving curator candidacy for the child bounty. Please note that the calls outlined below can be executed separately, depending on the process that curators consider appropriate for their specific bounty.

Click here and select the curator account.

Click here.

Select "batchAll" to execute multiple calls together.

Click here.

Select "ChildBounties".

The first call will be adding/creating a child bounty.

Type your main Bounty ID number.

Include the value you want to send as a reward for the child bounty. Make sure to multiply the DOT value by 10,000,000,000 to match the compact<u128> parameter.

Provide a short description of the child bounty.

We are now going to draft the second call. The second call will be adding/creating the child bounty curator.

Click "system".

Click here.

Select "proposeCurator".

Include the main Bounty ID number.

As we are batching multiple calls together, we have to make a prediction of the child bounty index. This can be done as follows:

Click "Bounties".

You will be able to see the current number of child bounties. Since the very first child bounty ever submitted was indexed as 0, the next bounty to be submitted will always need to be indexed with the number shown here.

Once you have the child bounty number, please type it here.

Include the curator's fee, if any. Make sure to multiply the DOT value by 10,000,000,000 to match the compact<u128> parameter.

Select the curator's account.

Please note that if you select a curator's address different from the one signing the transaction, the following call will fail to execute, causing the entire batch call to fail as well.

We now move to the third call. The third call will be approving the child bounty curator.

Select "acceptCurator".

Include the same main Bounty ID number as previously...

...and the child bounty number.

We now move to the fourth and final call. The fourth and final call will be awarding the child bounty.

Select "awardChildBounty".

Same as before, include the main Bounty ID...

....and the child bounty number.

Select the child bounty beneficiary's address.

Click here.

Now the call is ready. Please double-check the input carefully. Once ready, you will need to: 1) copy the call data and store it somewhere safe...

...2) copy the call hash and store it somewhere safe. This is an important step because both the call data and call hash are required to sign and finalise the multisig transaction tied to the main Bounty.

To finish, click "Submit Transaction" to execute the call.
