How to Download Your LinkedIn Data

See how to download all the data from your LinkedIn account. Useful when developing a tone of voice guide, personal branding, content strategy, developing your CV and understand what you and your network engage with.

From your LinkedIn profile, click "Me" top right

Select "Settings & Privacy"

Click "Data privacy" on the left hand side

Click "Get a copy of your data"

It's best to download all the data, ensuring you have everything you need. Select the first option to download the larger archive.

Click "Request archive"

You'll receive confirmation of the request.

You MAY get a partial download within an hour. But it's worth waiting for the full download, which should arrive within 24 hours. So look out for an email like this and then click to download

Find your downloads

Look for a zip file called "Complate_LinkedinDataExport_MM_DD_YYYY

You'll then see a load of files and spreadsheets of data relating to your LI. These are the useful ones for your Tone of Voice: Articles - as the folder suggests - contains any articles you've written Shares - these will be your posts! Profile - this includes the headline & summary shown on your profile Positions - your career history, including the description Comments - as it suggests!

Other files provide different insights. For instance: **Positions & Profile Summary:** Draft a CV or create a career timeline **Shares:** Useful for content strategy & repurposing **Connections:** Provides network insights & outreach planning **Ad Targeting & Imported Contacts:** Understand what data LI stores about you, helpful if you have privacy concerns.

Be Aware! The other files might include personal details of your connections such as email addresses, so ensure these are double deleted from your device in order to comply with GDPR. (Although most have their LI settings such that this doesn't happen, its best practice to delete data you don't need!)
