How to Find and Enroll in a Medicare Drug Plan

This guide provides a step-by-step approach to finding and enrolling in a Medicare drug plan, ensuring you can effectively manage your prescription costs. Navigate to [https://www.Medicare.gov/](https://www.google.com/)

Click "Log in" (top right corner)

IF you have an account log in with your user name and password - OR "Create Account" using your Medicare ID #

You must be logged in to YOUR [Medicare.gov](https://Medicare.gov) account to make any Part D coverage changes

Logging in should bring you to this page...Click "Open all options"

Click "Update my saved pharmacies"

You can Compare 5 options, I suggest adding Mail order + 4 Retail Click "Add a Pharmacy" to select the ones you want to compare

Click the "Your location" field and add your zip code (you can also adjust distance)

After you typed in your ZIP Code Click "Find Pharmacies"

Select your pharmacies by Clicking the ", Add Pharmacy" field for each one

You will see each Added Pharmacy listed on the bottom

The list sorts by distance. If you don't see a store you can scroll up to the top and Click in the "Pharmacy Name" field.

Type in the name of the pharmacy you are looking for

Click "Find Pharmacies"

Click the ", Add Pharmacy" field.

Once you've added all 5 Click "Continue to View Plans" to get back to your list of saved pharmacies

Scroll down to the bottom of your "Saved Pharmacy" List and Click "OK"

You should be back on the home page .... Click "Open all options" (again)

Now you need to add/ update you medications - Click "Update my saved drugs"

You can manually add medications by Clicking "Add a Drug"

Click the "Begin typing to find & select your drug." field.

Start typing the name of your medication - for example "levoth"

You will see a drop down selection of meds -Click "levothyroxine sodium"

Select the Medication you're looking for - in this example "levothyroxine sodium" then Click "Add Drug"

Adjust the dosage, package (if applicable), quantity & frequency - in this example I am saying 1 "112mcg tablet" once a day

So I have 30 in the quantity (once a day) and "Every month" in the frequency - Click "Add to My Drug List"

Repeat the same process - Click "Add Another Drug"

Click the "Begin typing to find & select your drug." field.

Type the name of another medication

Find the medication in the drop down - Click "Mounjaro"

Click "Add Drug"

When you are done adusting - Click "Add to My Drug List"

If you already have an established [Medicare.gov](https://Medicare.gov) account you may have the option to "Add Recently Filled Drugs" which will expedite the process of adding your meds

After clicking "Add Recently Filled Drugs" select the meds you want to price (will be taking) then Click "Back To My Saved Drugs"

Click "Start a New Plan Search"

Click "Find Plans Now" **IF you have a current Part D plan, you will see the information adjust based off the changes you just entered**

Type in your ZIP code and (if applicable) select your county then Click "Continue"

Select "Medicare drug plan (Part D)"

Click "Find Plans"

IF you have a current Part D plan, your current plan will be listed 1st. That shows you what to expect for the following year should you let your current coverage roll over. You can cllick the "Plan Details" on any plan option to see the detailed costs + best pharmacy to use

Click "Back to search results" to get out of the plan and back to your options

Under your current plan OR iF you do not have a current plan, you will find the best options for coverage. The Algorithm will automatically sort in order of lowest out-of-pocket costs for the remaining full months of the year (if you're looking for same year coverage) OR all of the following year (if you toggle to 2026 from 2025) . Click "Plan Details" to review

The most valuable bit of information is usually which pharmacy is going to be the best priced. Once you make that choice, scroll down to nearly the bottom and Click this icon next to your pharmacy... that will give you the detailed estimated drug costs specifically for your chosen pharmacy

Once you are done reviewing the information - Click "Enroll" and follow the prompts. Any changes you make during the election season will go into effect Jan 1st and the new drug plan will automatically cancel out your current one.
