How to Install a Scribe Extension for Chrome & Open the Side Panel

Make hands-on practice even easier! Learn how to install the Scribe Extension in your Chrome browser and have the exercise and Sample Company on the same screen. This is an convenient alternative to moving back and forth between two browser tabs.

Download Scribe Extension in Chrome

Navigate to [Scribe's Chrome listing](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/scribe-ai-documentation-s/okfkdaglfjjjfefdcppliegebpoegaii)to download the extension

Click "Add to Chrome"

When prompted, click "Add extension" *This will download the extension and add it to your Chrome browser.*

The Scribe Extension has now been added to your Chrome browser!

Pin the Scribe Extension

This is an optional step and helpful to do if you have multiple extensions in your Chrome browser.

Click the "Extensions button" on the top right corner of your Chrome browser

Click the "pin" next to Scribe to pin the extension

Access the Side Panel in an Exercise

When you are doing an exercise, you can open it on the right side of your screen through the Scribe Chrome extension. Doing so will allow you to practice in the Sample Company while having the exercise on the screen at the same time. Please note the example screenshots in these steps may be different than the exercise you are on. The process is the same regardless of the exercise you are working through.

Find the exercise you would like to do, then click the "link" for it *The screenshot below is from the QBO Gym, but this will apply to exercises in any Akadian course.*

Once the exercise opens, scroll and hover over the upper right corner of the white boxes (not the green and red boxes) until you see the Guide Me Icon appear. Click the "icon" button. *NOTE: You may have to scroll down a little bit on some of the exercises before you will see the icon appear.* *Instead of seeing the icon or "Guide Me", you may see "Open in Sidekick".*

The Scribe side panel will open to the right, where you will see the exercise, and the Sample Company will be on the left. The Guide Me feature is on by default. You will move through the exercise by clicking the "Next" button or clicking on each step of the exercise. If you prefer to scroll freely through the exercise, you can click the "Guide Me ON" button to turn this feature off.

To adjust the width of the side panel on the right side of your screen, click and hold down the sidebar, then drag to adjust as necessary.

If you have not already loaded the Sample Company, the window on the left will prompt you to login to your QBO account.
