How to Nominate yourself in the Student Leadership Elections

This step by step guide will show you how you can complete the nomination process in the Student Leadership Elections administered by Your Students' Association. The team are also available should you need assistance you can email them on studentvoice@arden.ac.uk.

Navigate to <https://www.ardenstudents.org/>

**Your Log In Credentials** We use Single Sign On which means that all you need is your University username and password. This will be the same username and password you use to log into iLearn, the Student Hub and other university systems.

Click 'Log in' button located in the top right corner of the website.

**Click 'Student Login' button** This will take you to an office 365 login page that will have the Arden University logo.

**Enter your Arden University student log in credentials.**

You will know if you have successfully logged in as you will be redirected to the Students' Association homepage or the webpage on the website you were previously viewing.

If you login was unsuccessful you may be directed to an Account Not Matched page on our website. This will contain instructions on what you can do next.

Navigate to our election nominations page

Navigate to <https://www.ardenstudents.org/>

**You can access it through our homepage.** Click the 'Nominate Now' button.

**You can access it through the elections webpage** Click the 'Nominate Now' button.

Click 'Log in' button located in the top right corner of the website.

**You can access it through our elections widget** This is located at the bottom of the elections webpage (ardenstudents.org/elections/) Click on 'Post List' button.

Start your nomination process

**Click 'Student Login' button** This will take you to an office 365 login page that will have the Arden University logo.

**Ensure that you have clicked the 'Nominate' tab**

**Enter your Arden University student log in credentials.**

You will know if you have successfully logged in as you will be redirected to the Students' Association homepage or the webpage on the website you were previously viewing.

Complete your Election Profile

**Enter your display name** This will initially show as your full name as recorded in the University system.

If you login was unsuccessful you may be directed to an Account Not Matched page on our website. This will contain instructions on what you can do next.

Your display name is what will appear to students when voting and viewing candidates. You are able to change the name shown but remember this should be a name that you are happy to be publicly displayed.

**Select your email** This will be your student email account that you logged in with. It will be this email that we will send email communications to regarding the elections and your candidacy.

**Enter your phone number** This will only be used by the team to contact you about your candidacy. Click 'Add phone number'

A pop up will appear asking you to enter your phone number information. Enter your preferred phone number in the 'Phone Number' field.

Click 'Add'

**Enter your Student ID Number** This is so we can confirm that you are an active student. This is a mandatory field.

**Enter your programme of study** This will be the programme that you are currently studying at Arden.

**Enter your Campus** This will be the campus that you are currently studying your Arden programme from.

**Candidate Support Information** We want to ensure that candidates have the appropriate support they need to effectively participate in the election. Tell us whether you feel you need reasonable adjustments in the 'Do you feel you will need reasonable adjustments to engage with these elections?' field.

**Tell us what reasonable adjustments you may need** This field should be used if you feel need reasonable adjustments. You should provide as much information that you are willing to share with the Students' Association team.

**Other support information** This space can be used to detail any additional support you would like from the students' association team. This will be reviewed by the team who will get in touch accordingly.

**Read the Terms and Conditions** You should fully read the candidate terms and conditions of this election. Once you have read and understood the terms and conditions you should click 'Save'.

At this stage you have completed your election profile. You can now move on to submitting your nomination for your chosen role.

Submitting your Nomination

Once you have successfully completed your election profile a new section will appear at the bottom of the page called 'Review Nominations'

**Review nominations** This section will appear at the bottom of the page and will list all roles in the election that you can nominate for.

**Read the descriptions** You will see the short descriptions underneath each role. You can also click on the role name to view a longer description.

If you click to view the longer description a pop up will appear with the information. Click on the 'X' in the top right corner of the pop up to close it.

**Nominate** Once you have decided which role you would like to nominate yourself for. Click on the 'Nominate' Button underneath the relevant role.

Complete the nomination form

**Confirm whether you meet the eligibility criteria to participate**

**Confirm whether you have the right to work in the UK or Germany**

**Confirm whether you believe you will need a break in learning**

**Confirm if you would be able to start a 12 month full time contract of employment from October.**

**Confirm whether you are willing to travel to the various Arden University campuses if successfully elected.**

**Read through the Candidate Positive Culture and Conduct statement**

**Confirm you have read and understood the candidate code of conduct.**

**Click 'Submit Nomination'**

Check your nomination status

Underneath status you should see 'Your nomination is pending approval' This means that you have successfully nominated yourself for the role. The team will then review your nomination against the eligibility criteria before approving your candidacy. In the meantime you can still upload your candidate statement (manifesto)

Updating your nomination

Click "Update nomination"

**Should you want to withdraw** Click 'Withdraw' button

**If you have withdrawn your candidacy** You still have the option to stand again by clicking 'Stand again'. However, you can only do this up until nominations close.
