How to Preview and Test HubSpot Marketing Emails

HubSpot offers several ways to preview your email: preview as a contact, preview a web version, and sending a test email. **This tutorial walks through each option you you can confidently review and test your emails before sending.**

Preview as a Contact

Open the **'Preview and test' menu** and select 'Preview as a contact'.

Search for and **select a contact** to preview how personalization tokens will appear:

Email client previews

Switch to the **'Preview in an email client'** tab to check layout across different providers. *You can also access this option from your main 'Preview & test' menu.*

Select the specific email clients and devices you want to include in the preview test.

Click 'Preview' to generate screenshots for the selected email clients.

Click 'Back to editing' to exit the preview and return to the email designer.

Web version preview

Select **'Preview web version'** from the **'Preview and test'** menu to view the browser rendering.

Configure the test email by selecting a recipient and a contact for personalization preview.

Click 'Send' to dispatch the test email.

Switch to your email inbox tab...

**Open the test email** to verify final formatting and personalization. (You may need to wait a few moments or refresh your inbox). - Emails will come from Marketing Email Preview [[<\[noreply@hubspot.com]]\](mailto:noreply@hubspot.com)[[>]] - You should see your test contact's info populate where the personalization token is placed, whether you added it in the subject line or the body of the email. In the example below, Courtney's name shows properly in the subject line.

Check your work

Using your test email, double check all of your links. Are they directing users where they are supposed to? Is your email content accurate? Are personalization tokens populating correctly? Does your email follow best-practices?
