How to Report a Phishing Email

Identify a phishing email. Some key indicators of a phishing attempt will be: 1. **The** "**\[EXTERNAL\]"** **tag in addition to** **a sender's suspicious email address** (phishing attempts will not usually come from an internal @alfred.edu email address) 2. **A** **promise or request for money** 3. **Offers that seem too good to be realistic** 4. **Slight** **misspellings or poor grammar** 5. **Demanding or urgent tone**

Click "More Items" (icon shown with 3 dots along the top ribbon).

Click "Phish Alert"

Click the "Phish Alert" button at the bottom of the window that appears.

A pop-up message stating whether the phishing email was a planned test or legitimate will be displayed. The email will then be automatically moved to your **Deleted** folder.
