How to Request an Advisor Hold Release

Learn the step-by-step process for Success Team members to request Advisors holds to be released by Primary Academic Advisors. This guide ensures you correctly document the reason for the release and enables tracking of the action through completion.

Case Selection

Navigate to the Student's record (Advisee Case).

Hold Release Request

On the Student's record, Click the "More" tabs dropdown menu.

Select "Holds" from the dropdown list.

Click the checkmark next to the Hold that should be released and then click the "Request Hold Release" button.

Enter Comments for the Primary Academic Advisor in support of this hold being released and click "Next".

You will see a confirmation of the message that an Alert was created successfully. Click "Finish" to complete the hold release request flow.

Alert Resolution

Navigate to the "Alerts" tab on the Student's record.

The Alert you just created will display as an Unresolved Alert. You can click it to view the details.

The Success Team Alert has "Release Hold" listed as the "Reason for Alert" and is assigned to the student's Primary Academic Advisor.

As the Primary Academic Advisor, when they log in to RamCentral, they will see notifications via the bell icon on the top-right of their screen.

The notifications indicate that the Alert has been created and shows the you assigned it to them. The Primary Academic Advisor can then click on the notification to open the Alert record themselves.

Once they review and release the hold **in Banner**, the Primary Academic Advisor returns to the Alert and can update the Status to track that this has been addressed.

Primary Academic Advisor can update the Alert Status to "Closed: Action Taken" once completed.

Primary Academic Advisor then clicks "Save" to complete the Alert which will move the Alert to the "Resolved Alerts" list on the Student's record.
