How to Run a Proximity Analysis in Spotzi

About the Proximity Analysis Tool

The Proximity Analysis tool calculates the driving time and distance between each input location and its nearest matching target (lookup) location. To get started, select a dashboard containing your input locations. These can be stores, businesses, Out-of-Home assets, or other points of interest. Then select a dashboard containing the locations you want to compare them against. For example, you might want to determine: - Which Physical Therapy clinic is closest to each gym in a client's portfolio? - How long would it take a gym member to travel between their gym and the nearest clinic? Once the analysis is complete, you can export the results as a spreadsheet for further analysis and reporting.

Running the Analysis

Open your Spotzi workspace and click "Analytics".

Navigate to the "Proximity Analysis" tool and click "Open".

Enter a name for your analysis.

Choose the dashboard containing the locations for which you want to find the nearest target (lookup) locations. If your data is not already available in Spotzi as a POI layer, asset layer, or other point-based dataset, you must upload it before it can be selected. Choose the dashboard containing the locations that will be matched to each input location based on proximity and travel time.

Click "Request Report".

Your Proximity Analysis request will begin processing. Depending on the size of the datasets, this may take several minutes.

Exporting the Results

Once processing is complete, a dashboard containing the results will be created. Click "Export" to download the analysis.

Click "Download CSV".

The CSV file will be downloaded to your computer. Open it in your preferred spreadsheet application to review the results.

Understanding the Output

The left side of the spreadsheet contains the original columns from your input dataset.

The right side of the spreadsheet contains data from the lookup dataset, along with the proximity analysis results. **Please note:** To avoid duplicate column names, columns originating from the lookup dataset are prefixed with "compare\_". For example, if both datasets contain latitude and longitude fields, the original input location coordinates remain unchanged, while the lookup location coordinates appear as "compare_lat" and "compare_lng".

The "traveltime_min" column indicates the estimated driving time, in minutes, between the input location and its nearest lookup location. The "distance_km" column indicates the distance between the two locations in kilometers.
