How to Search for Catalog Items in UCIBuy+

Catalog shopping allows users to view select contracted suppliers' products at the UC-negotiated rates. Orders submitted through catalog shopping result in a requisition with a more streamlined workflow called ZotPO.

**READ FIRST:** If issues occur when logging into UCIBuy+, confirm that one of the supported browsers—**Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Mozilla Firefox**—is being used. Ensure employment status with the university is active in UCPath. In the browser settings, allow **pop-ups** and **third-party cookies**. **READ BEFORE MOVING FORWARD:** **Terms & Definitions**\ **Guided** **buying** guides users to commodity specific suppliers' catalogs. **Catalog Categories**\ **Hosted catalogs\*** are similar to printed catalogs—static and without real-time updates. These catalogs are stored within UCIBuy+. **Punchout catalogs\*** are dynamic with looks and functionality similar to the supplier’s website, displaying real-time availability and current product information. These catalogs are managed by the supplier. **\*NOTE:** Some suppliers only offer one catalog category, but some offer both.

Navigate to <https://ucibuy.uci.edu/>and enter single-sign on credentials.

General Search Bar: Hosted Catalog

Users can locate items within the hosted catalog using the general search bar. In the search bar, type the name of the product (e.g., **pencils**), then select the search icon.

Select **Advanced** for more advanced search options.

If necessary, use the advanced search fields to narrow the search of specific products.

Once the desired item is found, specify the desired quantity and select **Add to Cart**.

Guided Buying: Hosted Catalog

**READ BEFORE MOVING FORWARD:** The steps in this section provide a single example on how to use guided buying for a single commodity type.

To search by commodity type, click on one of the commodity tiles (e.g., **Lab Supplies/Lab Equipment**).

**NOTE:** When users click on a commodity tile, they are brought to a webpage that contains important category information, procurement policies, and commodity specific contracted suppliers.

Search a specific supplier's hosted catalog by selecting the supplier's tile in the **Catalogs and Forms** section. In the **Search** bar, type a specific item to order (e.g., Antibody) and select the magnifying glass icon.\ \ \*Keep in mind that some suppliers only offer a hosted or punchout catalog, but some offer both. Punchout catalogs are identified by a “**+**” symbol before the supplier's blue commodity description. No symbol indicates that the supplier only has a hosted catalog.

Once the item is found, specify the desired quantity and select **Add to Cart**.

Guided Buying: Punchout Catalog

**NOTE**: Keep in mind that some suppliers only offer a hosted or punchout catalog, but some offer both.

Punchout catalogs can be accessed in the **Catalog and Forms** section. They are identified by a “**+**” symbol before the supplier's blue commodity description. Select the supplier's tile (e.g., **VWR Laboratory Supplies**). - If the supplier only has a punchout catalog, the browser will automatically redirect to a new webpage/tab/window. - If the supplier has both a hosted catalog and punchout catalog, both the search bar and a **Punchout** link will appear. Select the **Punchout** link.

Each supplier’s punchout site differs slightly, in appearance and functionality, but typically resembles the supplier’s public website. Search for the desired item, specify the quantity and select **Add** **to Cart**.

**NOTE:** Some items that are available on the supplier's **public** website may **not** be available on the supplier's **punchout** catalog. These items were not included in the contract. Contact the supplier for a quote.

Select **View Cart**.

Select **Proceed to Checkout**. Items will be added to UCIBuy+ cart.
