How to Set Up a Sign-in PIN for Your Computer (With Access Instructions)

Alert! Before you set up the PIN, you need to make sure you are locally or cloud joined. If you are joined with both (hybrid joined), you will not be able to set up a PIN.

Click the Windows button in the lower left-hand corner and select "Settings."

In the search bar, type "access" and select the "Access work or school" option.

This account is hybrid joined. We cannot set up a PIN.

This account is cloud joined, so we can set up a PIN.

In the Settings search box, type "sign-in" and select "Set up PIN sign-in."

Select "PIN" and click "Set up." Click "Set up"
Tip! You also can set up facial or fingerprint recognition from the sign-in options menu. However, you will need to set up a PIN first.

Click "OK."

You may have to reauthenticate with Microsoft.

Your PIN must be at least six characters. Note: This PIN should be different from your BitLocker PIN.\ Click "OK."

Click "OK" to finish.

The next time you log in to your computer, you will be prompted to enter your PIN instead of your password.
