How to Start a Live Lesson on Edpuzzle Using Canvas

A "Live Mode" Edpuzzle is when you lead an Edpuzzle video in class and all people "follow along & answer. This isn't an individually paced activity. Yes, you can still do this in Canvas as well as long as you have a display to show it to your students and students have deices to answer the questions as you go.

Instructure

Navigate to [https://edpuzzle.com](https://edpuzzle.com/channel/64dcfbd6e0b49041c244a907) and click on the Edpuzzle you want to assign.

Click **"Assign."**

Complete all of the assignment parameters & click on a class you want to assign it to.

Click the correct class.

Click **"Next."**

After finalizing assignment details, click **"Assign."**

Click **"Share assignment."**

Click **"Copy link."**

Go to your Canvas Course and create an assignment to add the Live View Assignment. I named mine **"Live Edpuzzle Test."**

Click **"Edit."**

Add the join link in the Rich Text Editor box. Type the title of the Edpuzzle you want students to join live. Mine is **"Join Edpuzzle Class."**

Type " [[Backspace]] Join Edpuzzle Class"

Type the title of the assignment to join in the Rich Text Editor box. Mine is **"Join Edpuzzle Class.** Highlight **"Join Edpuzzle Class."** Press [[ctrl]] + [[k]] which is a shortcut to paste a hyperlink.

While **"Join Edpuzzle Class"** is highlighted. Press [[ctrl]] + [[k]] which is a shortcut to paste a hyperlink.

Click the **"Link"** field.

Press [[ctrl]] + [[v]] which is a shortcut for paste. (You're pasting the join code you just copied in Edpuzzle.) Click **"Done."**

Click **"Save."** (OR "**Save & Publish"** if you're ready to have students "see" the assignment. )

Switch to your Edpuzzle assignment tab.

Click **"Live mode."** This is also where you'll see a list of your student's names.

Make sure your students have gone to Canvas and joined the class. Click **"Start Live Mode!"**

Before starting, make sure that your students have joined the exercise. You can tell by the "XX/ XX students are ready to start" listed below. When everyone is in, click **"Start." (You will want to make sure the video you're watching together is projected.)** Click **"Exit"** if you want to leave the live lesson early.
