How to Submit Your Application for the NCSN Exam

Navigate to NBCSN.org

Click "Learning Plans"

Select the "National Certification Examination for School Nurses" and click "Begin"

Click "Add RN License"

Enter the state in which you are registered

Enter the number of your nursing license.

Enter the expiration date of your current nursing license in MM/DD/YYYY format.

You may do this using the calendar.

Click "upload" and upload your RN license. Please note: If you are registering for a retake and the nursing license you previously added is still current, you make select "Choose from Library".

Click "Submit"

Click "Add Academic Transcript"

Choose the appropriate Academic Degree.

Click "Transcript Details"

Enter the name of your institution.

Enter the date you graduated in MM/DD/YYYY format.

You may do this using the calendar.

Click "upload" and upload your academic transcript. Please note: If you are registering for a retake, you make select "Choose from Library".

Click "Submit"

Click "Add Work Experience"

Enter your place of employment.

Enter your current job title.

Enter your Employment Address.

Enter your Employment City.

Enter your Employment State from the dropdown.

Enter your Employment Country from the dropdown.

Enter employed from date in MM/DD/YYYY.

You may do this using the calendar.

Enter employed to in MM/DD/YYYY format.

You may do this using the calendar.

Answer the question "How many days are you expected to work **per contract year**?" Please note: This is not days per week. It is days per contract year.

Answer the question "How many hours per day are you expected to work? (Up to 9 hours)".

Is this your current employer?

Click "submit".

Please enter your supervisor's name.

Please enter your supervisor's job title.

Please enter your supervisor's email address.

Please enter your supervisor's phone number.

Click "Upload". The following sample text can be used for the verification letter: "This letter is to verify that \[School Nurse Full Name\] has met the minimum requirement of 1,000 clinical hours and is a current employee of \[School District\]. They started on \[Start Date\] and are expected to work \[number of days\] per contract year at \[number of hours\] per day."\ Please note: If you are registering for a retake and the letter from your supervisor is less than one year old, you make select "Choose from Library".

Click "Submit"

Click "Submit" at the bottom right hand corner of the page. This will take you to the payment page. If the Clinical Practice Requirement bar at the top of the application is not completely green, you will be unable to submit. Once your application has been processed and approved, you will receive an authorization to test (ATT), which will allow you to schedule your exam.
