How to request a course approval using the Illinois Education Abroad Course Approvals

Navigate to [studyabroad.illinois.edu](https://studyabroad.illinois.edu)

Click "Study Abroad"

Click "Course Approvals"

Click "Access the Course Approval Database"

Click on International Course Equivalencies to search for courses that are already in "pending" or "active" status.

Search Function

There are several ways you can search for courses. Always click "Reset" before starting a new search!

Click "Reset"

If a course you are interested in taking abroad is not in "pending" or "active" status, click "Request New Course" to route the course for approval.

Choose University from drop-down menu

You can also search for the University by adding part of the name or location in the search bar.

Click "National Taiwan Univ (Taiwan)"

Click "Continue to steps 2 and 3"

Upload Syllabus or Detailed Description

Enter full course title (do not abbreviate)

Enter Host Course Subject/Prefix, Host Course Number and Host Course credits if available.

Select the term you plan to study abroad.

Enter the Year you plan to study abroad

Choose if you will take this course for a grade or as credit/no credit? You may adjust your answer later if your plans change.

You will follow the instructions of the College you are enrolled in at the time you study abroad to determine whether or not you can use CR/NC courses toward degree requirements. Be sure to talk to your College if you have any questions about this process.

Select “Yes” if this course will count toward a defined part of your degree program. Select “No” if you are taking the course primarily out of personal or academic interest. You may adjust your answer later if your plans change

Click "Submit Request"

After hitting Submit Request, you will see the course in the "My Pending Courses" tab. Once the course is fully reviewed and approved, it will automatically move to your "My Reviewed Courses" tab.
