How to schedule a meeting in Teams

Learn the preferred way of scheduling a meeting in Teams.

Open Teams and go to Calendar.

Click New meeting to schedule a new meeting.

Click on the arrow for different meeting types.

Add meeting details and attendees.

In the following steps we show the most relevant options to check when scheduling a Teams meeting.

Decide who can **bypass the lobby**. By default this is set to People in my organisation and guests. This means UM students, UM staff and invited guests can bypass the lobby. If you want to be sure no one has the wait in the lobby you can change this to Everyone.

By default all participants – who are invited or have access to the link – **can present**. If you only want organizers to present change this setting to 'only organizers and co-organizers can present'.

By default **mic and camera** are allowed for attendees. If you want you can disable this so mic and/or camera are turned off for attendees.

By default the **meeting chat** is on. If you don't want to use the chat you can turn it off or you have the option to only make the chat available during the meeting.

Click Save to save the meeting.
