How to set up Payment Automations to automatically collect and receipt payment

This feature allows you to streamline payment processes, minimise admin tasks and ensure accurate invoices by allowing for automatic collection and receipting of payments. Please read the steps below to see how:

To turn on **automatic collections**:\ **Check the box** next to "**Automatically collect payment in HotDoc once an invoice has been 'Stored**'".

Please note: Payment is automatically collected **10 minutes** after you click 'store' on an invoice. The collection is delayed to prevent double charging the patient if the invoice was paid at reception.

To turn on **automatic receipting**: **Check the box** next to "Automatically receipt an invoice that that has been successfully paid in HotDoc". \ \ You will then be prompted to update the Payment Type and Patient Claiming fields.

Under **Payment Type**, select **Credit Card, EFT, or Direct Credit**. HotDoc will use this information to automatically enter the payment into the field and receipt the invoice.

**Example**: The payment type selected in HotDoc will automatically update the corresponding field in the Best Practice invoice.

Under **Patient claiming**, this allows you **delay** automatic receipting outside of your business hours until 8:00am the next business day, so that you can claim a Medicare rebate on the same day. - **Check the box** next to **each operating business day** and select your closing hours. - If you operate on public holidays, **check the box** next to "**Receipt on public holidays**"

Select the green **Save** button to enable your settings. - For automatic collecting, this will start for any appointment with a payment method, regardless of when it was added. - For automatic receipting, this will start for invoices where payment is collected via HotDoc, after the setting is enabled.
